I was asked to photograph some images of a recent Sears store walk-thru with some Sears execs and a writer from the WSJ for a piece the paper did on the struggling retailer. CEO Lou D’Ambrosio has been on a media tour, trying his best to convince anyone who will listen that extinction is not imminent. Long-based in Chicago, although our town’s tallest building no longer goes by Sears, the company is still headquartered in the suburbs after recently accepting a tax cut from the state after threatening to relocate. I’ll always remember the Sears at Woodfield Mall (where these images were shot) as the place I bought my Sega Genesis (free Sonic: The Hedghog with purchase!).
